✨ Help Veterans, First
Responders & Their Families Climb Out of the Rabbit Hole ✨
Why This Coaching Certification Matters
If you've been helping people stuck
in the therapeutic rabbit hole—endlessly processing their
past without creating real change—you know something is
missing.
Traditional therapy focuses on understanding
what happened. Medication helps stabilize brain chemistry.
But coaching creates transformation. This
certification trains you in a proven methodology that helps
people change their living story right now—not just
understand why they're stuck.
What Makes TogetherStorying Coaching Different
While therapy keeps people analyzing the past, our
coaching methodology helps them create a different future.
- Evidence-Based: Grounded in 35+ years
of published research on organizational storytelling,
narrative methods, and restorying (see our research foundation)
- Trauma-Informed, Not Trauma-Focused: We
don't ask people to relive their worst moments. We help
them identify "Little Wow Moments" of resilience and build
from there
- Embodied & Experiential: Uses
sandtray, equine interaction, and somatic practices—not
just talk therapy
- Mission-Driven: Specifically designed
to serve veterans, first responders, and their
families—populations with 36-60% dropout rates from
traditional exposure therapy
"I spent years as a therapist helping people
understand their trauma. But I watched too many drop out
before healing. TogetherStorying gave me the tools to help
people actually change their living story—and they stay
engaged because we're not making them live in the rabbit
hole." — Certified TogetherStorying Coach, Former LCSW

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be a licensed therapist to become certified?
No. TogetherStorying is coaching, not therapy. We
welcome coaches, counselors, chaplains, social workers,
educators, and anyone called to serve veterans and first
responders. However, you must understand the boundaries
between coaching and therapy and agree to refer clients who
need clinical treatment.
What if I can't attend all 8 monthly sessions live?
All sessions are recorded, but live participation is strongly
encouraged for the experiential components and peer practice.
We can work with you if you need to miss a session, but you'll
need to make up the material before your assessments.
What equipment do I need?
You'll need your own sandtray kit (we'll provide
specifications and vendor recommendations, typically
$200-400). You'll also need a reliable computer, webcam, and
stable internet for Zoom sessions.
Can I offer TogetherStorying coaching before I'm certified?
No. You must complete all training components and pass
assessments before practicing as a TogetherStorying coach.
This protects both you and the vulnerable populations we
serve.
Is there financial aid available?
We operate on a mission basis serving veterans and first
responders. While we don't currently offer formal financial
aid, the pay-as-you-go structure allows you to spread payments
over 8-10 months. Contact us if financial concerns are
preventing you from training.
What's the time commitment?
Plan for 8-10 months total: 8 monthly Zoom sessions (2 hours
each), homework/practice between sessions, 2 assessment
sessions, and 2 ranch weekend events. Total time investment:
approximately 60-80 hours including travel.
Will I receive CEUs or continuing education credits?
Currently, we do not offer CEUs. However, the certification
demonstrates specialized training in trauma-informed,
evidence-based coaching methodology. Many coaches include this
training in their professional development portfolios.
